Vendini — Box Office ticketing service

Currently we are cooperating with Vendini (www.vendini.com) on expanding the functionality of their box office ticketing service via a dedicated team of software engineers, QA testers and a part-time Project and Product manager. Functionality developed to date includes automating the process of mapping new venues, and enabling the sale of "packages" of tickets.
  • Revenue Generation results from implementing "package" ticket sales:
    • In one year, Vendini estimates they will see an ROI of 10X+ on the cost of development services.
    • In 2006, an estimated 1.6 million tickets will be sold, of which 25-30% will be the result of package sales that could not have sold before the development of the package solution.

  • Cost/Time Savings from implementing an automated process for mapping venues:
    • Up to 90% of the time that it used to take for the sales person to map new venues, has been eliminated. Time saved by the sales people translates in to more time for sales and increased revenue generation.

Dedicated team has been ongoing since January 2005. Additional projects have included a mobile application running on Windows CE which enables ticket takers to scan bar codes on tickets when accepting them at venues; Refunds and exchanges which enable venues to be able to make refunds and exchanges of tickets without Vendini assistance, creating modules which allow the venues to create mailing labels for patrons in order to send them tickets or marketing information. Another large project included the development of a CRM system enabling a venue to manage their patron information; sales to patrons, relationship between patrons, contact information for patrons, etc.

Conversion to new Database Structure:

In late January 2009 the Vendini team completed and pushed to production a major project involving the conversion of the  Vendini Box Office Ticketing System from MySQL to PostgreSQL.

The project also involved moving to a transactional database structure. This project paves the way for additional features to be incorporated as well as it increases the size and volume of transactions and clients which the system can handle.

New features are constantly being added to the system. Among the latest ones are:

    • A "Coming soon" feature: members are now able to create events in Event Manager (and Package Manager) where they don't have an exact date when tickets will go on sale. This feature enables websites visitors to see upcoming events.
    • Arbitrary Discount feature was completed in the Individual Ticket Agent system. This feature enables agents to grant discounts when selling tickets at the box office.

Migration from Action Script 1.0 to Action Script 3.0

The next project delivered successfully by the Vendini team, involves migration of Vendini's flash application from Action Script 1.0 to Action Script 3.0. The migration was done in order to improve application performance as well as code readability and maintainability.

The migration also gave way to implementing new features which will broaden the functionality of Vendini's application.
