Orangutan

Meet Orangutan - a Jabber bot that helps track work time via the open source Project Management system, Redmine.

This tool resulted from practical experience with OrangeHRM within Softjourn.  After the company moved to OrangeHRM, some of us found that it was not very convenient to fill in the timesheets, especially if we were working on a few projects and were at times too busy to remember to tell Orange what we were working on. The solution came to one of our developers, and the result is a jabber bot, named Orangutan (OrangeHRM Unit To Avoid Neglect ). Now we don't have to access the tracking system via the browser, the bot puts all the data in there and all we have to do is talk with that smart great ape!

Now we would like to share Orangutan with any business using Redmine (or OrangeHRM) and that has also experienced the pains that we have. Orangutan - is an experimental project, an attempt to create a virtual co-worker that will make sure your staff does not forget to tell Redmine what their current task is, and how long they have been working on the task.

Orangutan has an interesting and complicated architecture that enables it to "understand" requests in different formats, build dialogues, contexts etc.
