ATMua explained:

Softjourn’s ATMua service helps you get the right team in place and receive optimal benefit from your offshore team. The service consists of three components.

 

I. Infrastructure - Infrastructure consists of two main areas

Equipment/tools/telecommunications: Based on the makeup of your team and the business areas they are working under, the appropriate equipment and tools need to be put in place; both hardware and software. The configuration needed may also depend on your security requirements. Softjourn works with you to determine the optimal infrastructure for your team. Additional infrastructure provided may include:
  • Providing collaboration and project sites
  • Providing disaster recovery backup to US servers
Administration/Legal: Each member of your team will be an employee of Softjourn in Ukraine. Appropriate employee contracts, registration of employees will be done by Softjourn. Non disclosure agreements in Ukraine and in the US, in order to you and your IP will be put in place.

II. Human Resources

Human resources start with sourcing talent per your specifications. Softjourn conducts initial screening of employees based on technical, business and language requirements. After a potential candidate passes this initial screening, your hiring manager will receive information on qualified candidates for their choosing and for the possibility to interview them by voice or other means per your usual hiring practices.

As required, Softjourn can also perform background checks on Ukrainian candidates which can include a criminal record check.

III. Distributed Team Process

Softjourn’s distributed team process is all about eliminating the distinction between in-house and offshore services. In order to achieve our objective, we emphasize two key issues; Knowledge Transfer and Communications, which often cause offshore software development to fail.

Knowledge Transfer: The Remote team understands the vision of the application, understands the architecture, and has domain expertise. We believe business skills are just as important as technical skills. To assure that information is received and understood knowledge transfer will take place in several forms. The new team will learn on its own, as well as learn from the client.

Communications: When working with virtual teams, all parties need to know when they can expect a response to their questions, when someone will call them back, or to know how and when they can contact someone to discuss an issue. To simply say that we are available any time is not enough. In order to assure that our clients feel comfortable with when and how they can contact us and when they can expect a response, all team members both client and Softjourn, onshore and offshore will have access to an Availability Chart and a Communications Priority chart.
